Johann means "God is merciful" and a common first name of many famous composers such as Johann Strauss I (1804-1849), or Johann Strauss Sr., composer, popularizer of the waltz, Johann Strauss II (1825-1899), known as the "Waltz King", Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), a German composer and organist whose sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra, and solo instruments and Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706), a German Baroque composer, organist and teacher, etc. I particularly like Johann Pachelbel for his "Canon in D" which inspired so many people from adults to children. "Canon in D" was written in or around 1680, during the Baroque period, as a piece of chamber music for three violins and basso continuo, but has since been arranged for a wide variety of ensembles. |

Swee Kwang is the Director and luthier of Johann Strings. He is trained in Newark, Nottinghamshire of England, and obtained the Certificate of Advanced Violin Restoration from the Chapel violins, violin making school. Swee Kwang is always ready to handle your instrument, be it for a re-setup, tonal adjustment, major repair or for restoration. His high standard of work, responsible attitude has gained trusts from many players and violin enthusiasts in the region. |
