Johann Strings offers up close and personal service. Buying a violin from him is like or accustomed to buying one from an old school ‘European’ studio. He did the scaling for me, tuned it up, showed the basics and I felt that on the whole, the purchase was worth it. Buying a violin is a lifetime thing, with maintenance on the way and Johann Strings definitely makes me want to come back again.

I was introduced to Johann Strings by a friend. I first met Ms. Ho and she is warm and helpful. I get to know a lot of information from her. Through the conversation which lasted for more than an hour or so, it lets me have a better understanding of violins & music. Today, the New Year Day, I finally got to know the man behind it, Swee Kwang. We exchanged some ideas on buying old violins. I can see than he is a serious restorer, the finishes were done well with all the fine details. I would recommend my friends if they want a good job done & also value for money for the instruments.

I am really new to violin i.e expose to violin for merely 2 weeks! and needed all the genuine help and advices I could get. By chance via Google, I found JS and their accessories pricing are really attractive. I bought my 1st Dominant String (Atas brand!) from JS and Swee Kwang is kind to help restring, tune and oil the pegs without extra charges! Totally NO hidden costs, unlike my experience@ Yxxxxx PS! He even shares his experiences and show me some know-hows without reservation whenever I have questions. He certainly knows his stuffs and bothers to reply my SMS to him. He even accommodates my timing by extending his shop hours on 3rd day of CNY (I am so touched!)! Most importantly, he never hard-sell and I do not feel pressurize to buy anything. He actually earnestly advised customers to retain their instrument than recommend to increase sales. Furthermore, he does not look-down on handling my cheap violin, during point-of-sales and knowing my tight budget. His little workshop cum shop and his persona really make one feels cozy and yet professional without any corporate steel front. Keep up the good work, JS! Highly Recommendable!
